The simple rules
Effective date: November 01, 2026
These Terms are an agreement between you and Canoa Studio LLC, which runs Held (“Held,” “we,” “us”). By buying from us, subscribing or using heldme.org, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice.
The short version
- You receive printed letters of hope in the mail.
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime.
- Payments are final, except where the law says otherwise.
- Held is encouragement, not professional advice.
- Our responsibility is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.
1. Who can use Held
You must be at least 18 years old and have a U.S. mailing address. Please give us accurate details, because we mail to the address you provide.
2. What you can get
- Subscriptions: we plan to mail two printed letters each month for the different subscriptions available, usually around the 10th and the 25th. Mailing dates are goals, not guarantees, and delivery times depend on the postal service.
- Keepsake Box: a one-time product, mailed once.
- Gift Letter: one letter, mailed once. Nothing renews.
The writing, design, paper, small extras and letter series may change over time.
3. Prices, billing and automatic renewal
Subscriptions may renew automatically until you cancel. The monthly plan is charged every month and the yearly plan every year, at the price shown at checkout (currently $13 a month or $120 a year), to the payment method you used through Stripe. Prices are in U.S. dollars, plus any taxes that apply. By checking the box at checkout and completing your purchase, you expressly agree to these automatic renewal terms and authorize us to charge your payment method each month or year until you cancel.
- If a price changes, we will email you before it applies. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the new price starts.
- Discount codes are for one use, have no cash value and may expire.
4. Cancel anytime
Cancel at any time using the Manage my subscription link. Canceling stops future charges. You will keep receiving the letters you already paid for until the end of your current billing or prepaid period. We do not give partial refunds.
5. All sales are final
Our letters are printed and prepared for you, so payments are non-refundable, and orders cannot be changed or returned once placed, except where the law requires otherwise.
- If we can’t deliver what you paid for (for example, if we stop offering Held), we will refund the unused part.
- If we’re running late: if we can’t mail a letter or product within 30 days of its planned date (including your first letters), we will email you, and you can choose to cancel that order for a full refund of any unused fees of it.
- Lost or damaged mail: tell us within 30 days of the expected mailing date. We may choose to send a replacement.
- Address changes: update your address before the next mailing date. We are not responsible for letters mailed to the address you gave us.
- Gift Letter: may include the letter of rotation of the Subscription Being Held. We may have exceptional specific letters for special occasions as may be advertised in our website.
6. Gift letters and your notes
When you send a gift, you confirm that you believe the person would welcome it and that you may share their name and address with us. Your note must be kind and lawful: no threats, harassment, hate, explicit content or anything that copies someone else’s work. You allow us to print and mail your note. We may shorten a note to fit, or refuse or cancel any order, with a refund if we cancel before mailing. A gift recipient is not signed up for a subscription.
7. Encouragement, not advice
Held shares faith-based encouragement only. It is not therapy, counseling, or medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it does not replace care from a qualified professional. In an emergency, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 any time.
8. Our content
The letters, designs, website, the Held name and logo belong to us or to those who license them to us. You are welcome to keep, reread and share your letters with people you love. Please do not copy, sell or publish them for commercial use without our written permission.
9. Provided “as is”
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, HELD, OUR LETTERS, PRODUCTS AND WEBSITE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We don’t promise that the website will always be available or error-free, or that letters will arrive on a specific day.
10. Limits on our responsibility
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW: (A) CANOA STUDIO LLC AND ITS OWNERS, TEAM MEMBERS AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO HELD, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE AND GROSS NEGLIGENCE), INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INFRINGEMENT OR ANY OTHER THEORY, IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR HELD IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. WE DO NOT PROVIDE ANY INDEMNITY.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
11. Your responsibility
If you break these Terms or misuse Held (for example, through a gift note you write) and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs, to the extent the law allows.
12. If we need to pause or stop
We may suspend or cancel an account for fraud, abuse or breaking these Terms. If we stop offering Held, or end your plan for no fault of yours, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid period.
13. Things outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by things beyond our reasonable control, such as postal delays, weather, natural disasters, supplier problems, illness or any other force majeure event.
14. If we disagree
Let’s talk first. Email heldme.letters@gmail.com and we will try to resolve it within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cherokee County, Georgia except that either of us may use small claims court.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, email subscribers before they take effect. If you keep using Held after that, you accept the new Terms. If you don’t agree, you can cancel.
16. The fine print
These Terms and our Privacy Notice are the whole agreement between us about Held. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce something right away, we haven’t given up the right to do so later. We may transfer these Terms as part of a sale or merger of our business; you may not transfer them without our permission. We may send you notices by email.
